Daily Prayer for March

All Knights of Council 3294 are requested to faithfully pray once every day starting tomorrow and during the season of Lent.  The time can be of your choosing between noon and 3 pm.  The prayer will change at Easter.

Pray aloud or silently as circumstances permit. Try not to miss, but if you can’t make our communal noon to 3 p.m. window, simply pray later or earlier that day.  Use a habit like grace before meals or Eucharistic Adoration as a reminder. As in all things: Keep the Faith.

Lent is a time for penitence and personal renewal.  We have chosen for the season verses from Psalm 51.  During Fridays in Lent, make an effort to read Psalm 51 in its entirety.  Meditate with St. Paul as he captures the essential purpose of Lent:  “ … be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”  Eph. 4:23-24.

Have mercy on me, God, in your kindness;
in your compassion blot out my offense.
O wash me more and more from my guilt
and cleanse me from my sin.

My offenses truly I know them;
my sin is always before me.
Against you, you alone, have I sinned;
What is evil in your sight I have done.

Indeed you love truth in the heart;
then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom.
O purify me, then I shall be clean;
O wash me, I shall be whiter than snow.

A pure heart create for me, O God,
put a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from your presence;
nor deprive me of your Holy Spirit.

Give me again the joy of your help;
with a spirit of fervor sustain me.
That I may teach transgressors your ways;
and sinners may return to you.
